3 Things I Learned As a Holistic Coach

3 Things I Learned As a Holistic Coach

In 2021, I graduated from the Radiant Coaches Academy and obtained the title of certified Holistic Coach, and I currently run an online School for Certified Holistic Coaches in the Croatian language.

It was a transformative journey that complemented and enriched my vocation and life as a yoga teacher. At the moment when I felt that something was missing, coaching appeared, and I said “Yes!”.

I immersed myself in new knowledge and tools with which I can enrich my yoga program and help clients on multiple levels. I became more self-confident, business “smarter” and internationally oriented, connecting with clients and students from all over the world.

3 Things I Learned As a Holistic Coach

I would like to share with you 3 important things that I have learned as a Holistic Coach:

Listening is not just listening. Nowadays, everyone can say that they are a “good listener”, but are you really? Are you really present and paying full attention, even to the details? Are you able to listen without judgment?

A client will only trust a coach who makes him feel safe and respected. The coach’s job is to build trust and intimacy with the client, being “non-judgmental” is the foundation. It’s not so easy to give up your own judgment, because everyone has their own unique filters that shape the way we see the world. It is important to keep your judgment to yourself. This experience has helped me to also be a better mother and partner who listens attentively and with compassion.

A goal without a plan is just a wish. The coach helps the client get clear answers to where he wants to go and to make a plan and action steps. In coaching, we set goals, make plans and execute them. Some of the advantages of planning are that the plan gives us guidance for action and can direct action towards the desired outcome. Plans provide motivation and commitment.

Planning makes our vision of life come true.

Coach and client are in a partnership in which goals and doubts are discussed, and through carefully asked questions, the client comes to the answers himself and is inspired to take the initial steps towards what he wants to be and do. The assumption of coaching is that the client already knows everything that needs to be done and that he has all the answers within himself. The coach is there to ask questions that will help the client to find the answer within himself, without counseling.

Many of us look for answers to life’s questions by looking outside of ourselves and trying to gather advice from the people around us. But since each of us is unique, with our own personal history, our own sense of right and wrong, and our own way of experiencing the world that defines our reality, looking to others for answers is only partially helpful.

We can usually find the answers to our personal questions by looking within ourselves. When we realize that we always have access to a part of us that always knows what we need and is meant to act as our inner compass, we can stop looking outside ourselves. If we can learn to hear, trust and accept the wisdom that already lives within us, we will be able to confidently navigate our lives.
